I wrote documentation for the new support for specifying a local pathname string when instantiating a DOM File object today. Then it was pointed out that feature is on mozilla-central, not Aurora, so I’ve now created Firefox 6 for developers. So we’ve already, apparently, started documentation for Firefox 6.

That means it’s time to remind you to add links there if you document anything for Firefox 6. But, realistically, in most cases you’ll want to focus on stuff for Firefox 5 for now.

This week was full of meetings and assorted tasks that aren’t interesting enough to write about. The sole exception that I can think of is the work I did on the new compatibility table.

That said, right this very minute, as I write this, we’re having an in-IRC meeting for our virtual documentation sprint, which is ongoing April 1 and 2. Our focus is, once again, improving our open web documentation.

Obviously, the main achievement for the week was a community-wide one: the delivery of Firefox 4 on March 22nd! That said, I did get a few things done this week:

  • Created a new bitly template that returns a short URL for the specified page on devmo. This is used by the Wiki Wednesday article list script to output short URLs for pasting into newsgroups.
  • Assorted article cleanup and other work. Very little new documentation this week though, sorry.
  • Arranged to get our staging server updated to the latest version of MindTouch in preparation for QA beginning testing so we can finally get upgraded, now that their plate is getting less crowded with releases of Firefox.
